One question I get asked a lot is "how do you come up with your designs". Truthfully, it always catches me off guard. There is a part of me that wishes I had a big answer, some amazing story. Like, I have a vision, that appears in front of me, after I have had my morning coffee! (Now that would be awesome)!
When, in truth, I really don't know.
Sometimes something sparks in my imagination, and then I have to run with it. Other times I am out and about and see something, that triggers an idea. Once and awhile a conversation I have with someone, draws me towards something.
Then I run with it.
Sometimes I worry that one day the creativity will dry up and then what??!!???
What I have found though is that creativity grows more creativity! When I start drawing, sketching, even doodling, it all of a sudden leads to new ideas and wanting to try new things!
The one thing I can say, is that all of my designs come from my heart. Nothing that I release, is not something that I haven't put lots of time and energy into! My octopus design took nearly 24 hours to complete (and was redone a few times to get it where I loved it)!
The poetry that goes with each design, or the small message, usually requires a walk and some fresh air! I love to take a break, walk away from the art and then why I see it again, the words come to me!
So, that is my process, it's nothing really special! My suggestion to you, if you have an idea, go with it!!
Thanks for reading!
