Until I quit, my job was to visit dental offices around the state. I was a sales rep. (Hate that term)!

I LOVE the field of dentistry - surprising, because I don't like going to the dentist! However, I found a home in the dental field. Working in dental, leading teams, I built so many great relationships with not only the dentists and my teams, but the patients!

We had fun! Dentistry is FUN!!!!!!

It was so very hard to leave those offices!

So, when I left the offices I managed and was now going to get to visit so many more - I was excited!! Because, let me say it again - DENTISTRY IS FUN!!

SO....I was shocked at some of the service that I received! Sometimes it was GREAT and other times it was not. I mean - offices were literally killing any chance of a relationship (which is how you sell) before they even started.

It was heartbreaking.

The front desk would not be helpful. They would hardly even say hello! Let alone start a conversation!

Most of the time, they want to buy loyalty by giving away a television, or discounts on services. What they are missing is really quite simple.

1. Value your patients time.

2. Smile

3. Build a relationship.

4. Oh, and dentists - take care of your teams!

5. ALWAYS DO WHAT IS RIGHT!!

(Most dentists have ZERO ideas about business - freaking kills me)!

You see, I love to serve. Customer service is my thing - it is not hard, it is just always doing the right thing for people. Acting selflessly. I want to always make people feel valued. So to see so many offices, in a field that I LOVE - not providing the excellent customer service I know they should - killed me, just broke my heart.

This goes for any business people! Your customers, your patients are your number one priority. They DRIVE your business. It doesn't matter what you sell, or where - you need them to choose you.

My Islanders (that is what I call the people who support me), are my number one focus. They drive me to always do better, be better and offer better service.

I wish all businesses felt that way!

Some customer service advice:

-Treat them with respect.

-Their problems, are yours.

- Do what you can to make them comfortable.

- Always do what is right. Always.

I still love the dental field, in fact a goal of mine is to consult with them one day. I think, no I KNOW, that out of every medical field - dentistry is the best one to have a customer relationship based business model.

If only ALL  dental offices would get that idea!!

If after reading this, you want to join me at Business Island, we would love to have you! There you can connect with other business minded people, gain support and offer advice!
